Traveling to Puerto Vallarta

Hello everybody. I've been searching high and low to find out when it will be possible to travel to PV again but haven't found any news. Are the bridges up yet? I'd love to spend this weekend there.

I don't know what you are waiting for, the highway was opened just a few hours after the northbound bridge collapsed...all traffic was diverted to the southbound bridge by making a two lane one way bridge into a two way single lane bridge...the only place you can not get to is San Pancho village where their bridge is down....

Oh, well thank you very much. So it doesn't take 8 hours to drive to downtown PV from Guadalajara?

No, from reports from friends in the area driving from Guayabitos to the PV airport takes about 40 min. more than usual,
this site would have up to the hour news about conditions including mudslides,have a good time...

Definitely not. If you go via Ameca and Mascota to downtown PV you avoid the bridge. However, if you come in from the north you will have a delay.

There is an update on the Jaltemba Jalapeño about the bridge repairs. Maps explain the communities affected. The current situation is quite tolerable with normal delays being about 45 minutes. Repairs may be completed as early as January 2011. Read the article by clicking here.
