Need Boarding Pass to ReNew FM3?

I just had someone tell me that you have to show your boarding pass when you go to renew your FM3? Apparently INM now wants proof of the date you entered the country.
Does anyone know more about this.....I threw my boarding passes away when we arrived Nov. 12th and our FM3 renewal date is late April, 2012.

They could be referring to when your document has expired when you were out of the country. Although in that case, the local immigration official in Bucerias said have your passport stamped at the airport (or land entry) to prove your entry into Mexico, and do not get a tourist visa.
And then get to immigration as soon as possible to renew. IIRC, you have 30 days to do that.

I think you are probably correct, they must have returned after their FM3 expired. I will ask my neighbor for more details.
Thanks to everyone, you always think clearly when I tend to panic.
