Melaque beaches and hotels

I have spent a great deal of time looking on line at hotels and reviews for Melaque but remain somewhat confused about the differences on the west/eastbeaches and the lagoon. If anyone is able to give good perspective or specific hotel recommendations, that would be greatly appreciated. My dentist is in San Patrico....and the reason for my visit.

There are hotels/motels all along the beach, east, west and centro. The big difference to me is the swimmable beach at the west end (east and centro are dangerous for most). There are also more beach restaurants on the west end.

San Patricio and Villa Obregon merge into each other about the mid-way point(plaza).

Streets are generally flat and easy to walk, some with sidewalks. Local buses run frequently nearly the whole distance during the day.

You might try the Barra de Navidad/Melaque webboard on www.tomzap.com for specific hotel recommendations by people who live or frequently visit the area.
