Kite Condo in Nueva Vallarta

Can't Post | Private Reply
My wife and I are thinking of purchasing a 3yr old condo in Nueva Vallarta. The condo is oceanfront, 3bdrm, 3 ba, 2400sqft in the KITE condominium complex. Is anyone familiar with this condo complex, and does a price of $570,000US seem reasonable?

I don't know the answers, but here's a suggestion: Go to Google, enter "Puerta Vallarta forum" and you will find the local webboard. (First listing there) Someone there can probably be of help with specifics.

I live in Bucerias, just north of Nuevo Vallarta. I am not familiar with that condo. I just Googled it and see it is on a beautiful section of beach.
But really, I'm the wrong one to ask if that is reasonable. I couldn't imagine spending that much money on anything! Well, maybe if I had that much money....

If I had that much money, I'd rather live in Sayulita or San Pancho.

Seems like a lifestyle choice to me. Thankfully, neither Sayulita nor San Pancho have seen development on the Vallarta scale. That said, I do know a little about the condo market in that area and the price seems to be in line with others. I think Vallarta Lifestyles is available on line and their are offer r.e. rags which should be easy enough to check.

I was just at Sayulita last week and it was like Disneyland compared to what it used to be like even 6 years ago. It's still nice with lots of good places to eat. I mean it's hard to find a Mexican there other than serving in restaurants or working in one of the millions of real estate offices.

If making a $570,000 condo in Nueva Vallarta livable is anything like making a 585,000 peso house in Hermosillo livable, then I assume you are going to plow another $half-mil or so into the property. With that kind of money in my budget for housing, I think I would prefer to live in Lugano, Switzerland.

You've got a great sense of humor, Esteban! "No Mexicans"? "Millions of real estate offices"! Seriously, I know what you mean because I was in Sayulita six years ago. But it's all relative. We looked in P.V. and south down to Boca de Tomatlan for 3 or 4 years before discovering Sayulita for ourselves and we love it. When we first came to the village we met several people who had been there for 10 to 20 years and were complaining about all the new development while planning their next relocations. Some of them have gone off to Nicaragua and Panama, while others are still here. Fonatur has designated Sayulita as the quaint, bohemian village that the folks in their "Riviera Nayarit" gated communities can visit when they get bored with their manicures and golf. There are some disturbing trends in the village toward larger homes and developments, which I suppose is inevitable, given the huge forces of development spreading north from Punta Mita. But it's all relative and subjective. When a beautiful, relatively underpriced place begins to garner the kind of media attention that has been lavished on Sayulita, the result is creeping development. Frankly, we don't mind it so much. Having lived in Greenwich Village, Berkeley and Ibiza, it's still a small village to us. BTW, we are having dinner with some actual Mexicans this week. I'll let you know where the rest are hiding next week. And don't worry about all the real estate agencies...soon there will be no land left to sell!

I'm not one of those who moves into a place and complains about development even though I remember the "good ol days". I'm glad you got the humor. It is a quaint village compared to the "new style" high rise and ultra modern condo stuff. Parking is a bitch but that's to be expected. I'm glad you found some Mexicans too! People are always asking me "are there a lot of Mexicans where you live?"....:-)

A comparable condo site might be "Punta Esmerelda" just past Bucerias and just before Cruz de Huanacaxle (pardon if I mispelled). anyways it's a very beautiful condo site with about 3 or 4 towers and townhomes in front, I would say that prices might be similar. check it out
