Guadalajara Hotel?

We are planning to spend a month in Guadalajara getting our TEFL certificates at ITTO. We thought we would stay at the Hotel San Francisco Plaza which is about nine blocks from the school. However, a friend in GDL says he thinks it has fallen on hard times lately and that it is not clean, etc. Has anyone stayed there lately who can give us a current review? We are both 61, not too picky, and just want a decent place to spend a month that is not expensive. We appreciate any suggestions you may have.

We were there for a week March 2007 and liked it. Our first room was not that great, but they switched us to a very nice room the next morning.

A friend from London stayed there for three nights in October. He thought it was just okay, and he's definitely not picky.
