FM3 First Issue

Can't Post | Private Reply
We got our FM3 on May 6th and went to Tijuana on May 8th to have it stamped, because he consulate office said we had to cross the border ASAP and no later than May 30th. We do not plan to drive to Bucerias until sometime in July.

Will we have to pay a fine if we do not register in PV/Bucerias until July?

Help

Probably.

You must have dealt with the LA consulate. They have been spouting that "go register right now" misinformation for years.

Your right, we did use the Los Angeles consulate office.

If I have to pay a $300 fine per person (per FM3) maybe it pays me to fly down for $329 each to register and check the house.

Thanks Rolly for your help.

Try and find out from folks in Bucerias the attitude of your area immigration office towards late registration. The office in Guadalajara is very liberal and while we were several months late in registering for many reasons, nothing was said and no fine was imposed.
