Driving "around" Vallarta, south to north

This probably belongs in the "Traveling Mexico" forum but I'm looking for a quick answer so I'm putting it here. Please leave it here for a day....

We'll be driving from Manzanillo to San Pancho, Nayarit day after tomorrow. Taking the obvious route. I know that there's a road that runs around Vallarta, and thus avoids going through the center, etc. I don't want to miss it.

If I'm driving south to north, I know I go past Conchas Chinas....and then there must be some obvious turnout (hopefully) that leads me to the ring road that circles the eastern edge of town and lets you out just north of the airport. Is it obvious how to get on it coming from that direction?

Conversely, if I stupidly miss it and end up all the way down the hill, I think I can turn right on Badillo and then head up to it and catch it turning left. Yes?

Sorry for the brevity...I'm using somebody else's internet signal. It'll probably save me a good 45 minutes or so on the drive, so thanks for any help!

I don't know of any earlier access to the Libramiento than via Basilio Badillo, coming from the south. There may be one, but I don't think so. It will indeed save you time, and if you are hungry when you make that part of your journey, there are many restaurants on and close to Badillo. If you are continuing north and need provisions, I suggest the new Mega just south of Bucerias. Easy access, much less crowded than Walmart. There will be radar cops between the PV limits and Bucerias, as of a couple of weeks ago. Buena suerte!

Yes, it is a right turn at Basillo Badillo. There are big green signs so it is to find. However, the librameinto comes out at the south end of the hotel zone and not north of the airport. At this time of year, it would actually be quicker to just go through Centro. We have a house in Mismayloya and make a lot of trips thorugh PV.

I agree, just go through town. No real loop at all, the Libramiento saves time sometimes during the high season.
Enjoy your trip to San Pancho.

Thanks Camille, donemry and sioux4noff,

Sounds like it's not worth sweating it and we should motor through the center. (I just had visions of my last trip through PV, how much it had grown, and how we were bumper to bumper the entire way in from the airport to old town. To your point though, that was a much busier time of year. It is amazingly quiet in Manzanillo right now. Nice!

Thanks!

Just a quick update. You all were correct. Badillo offered the first access to the libramiento. As recommended, we didn't bother and drove right through town. It was cake. Thanks!
