Buy Car in Jalisco and bring to Hidalgo

Hi All,
I am going to spend some time in Guadalajara so I will need a car. My home is in the state of Hidalgo. Does anyone have any experience in buying a car in one state and keeping it in another? I am thinking about a Ford Escape or similar.

Last March I purchased a Toyota Tacoma in Guadalajara and brought it back to Bucerias. Jalisco to Nayarit. I went to the local DMV and had the title put into my name as well as changed the state location. It was a long process and thankfully I had a Mexican friend help me with it. Took about 6 hours in two trips. Most of that just waiting in lines. They took the VIN off the truck in a very unique process using carbon paper. By the end of the second trip and some pesos paid I had new license plates and they watched me install them on the truck. I went a few weeks ago to renew the annual license, got a form to pay at the bank and they said I could pick up the new paperwork in 4-6 weeks. I'm going today to see if it is ready.
