My bus book says that Primera Plus has four buses per day, costs around $4 US, a little more than one hour. There are also second class buses, which would be OK for such a short trip.

I have ridden that bus, but it has been a few years.

As I recall, both bus stations are on the outskirts of town.

As you probably realize, Guanajuato is an extremely difficult place to drive, making buses and taxis more attractive. The last time I drove into Guanajuato, I hired a taxi at the edge of town to lead us to our hotel, well worth the money. The underground roads are part of the reason that Guanajuato is so hard to get around in, along with the random road arrangement, one way streets, etc. I could tell lots of stories, but I will stop here.

wjinks: during my semiannual trips to Guanajuato GTO, I normally take at least one day trip over to San Miguel. From the centro in Guanajuato to the central de autobuses is a 30-35 peso taxi ride; it is not walkable. Second class Flecha Amarilla buses leave frequently for SMA and cost about 30 pesos; the first class Primera Plus are less frequent and cost about 45 pesos. The trip to SMA is on a good winding highway and takes about 75 to 90 minutes. The central de autobuses in SMA is a straight shot to the centro. You can briskly walk it in 15-20 minutes or it's a 20 peso taxi ride. I don't ride a motorcycle but the route between the two cities seems to me tailor made for one. Rock
