Hi,

I've a couple question regarding a drive route from Guadalajara-Morelia-Las Cardenas-Ixtapa via the toll roads.

Do I understand correctly that the new toll road from Morelia to outside of Las Cardenas is now fully open?

I think I've read in other postings that drive "time" wise that it is better to take the 15D toll road all the way to Morelia, then from Morelia the toll roads to Las Cardenas rather than try to take a cross country "short cut" from 15 to Uruapan or Patzcuaro and then get on the toll road from there. Is that correct?? The folks going are wanting to go straight through to Ixtapa, at least that's the current plan.

Anyone have a drive time estimate for Guadalhara-Morelia-Ixtapa? I'm rough guessing about 8 hours??

The highway is still not completed. There is a really whindy and twisty detour around the last bridge, but the lake is beautiful.

Out of curiosity, seeing as no one else had answered your post yet, I asked someone what the status was. They told me there is actually another detour now, because of the heavy rain they had. But I can't verify that in any way.
