I sent a copy of the image to a Pátzcuaro friend who worked as an agronomist until he retired. He may have the answer.

I don't know the name, but I sure like the looks of the town. Houses with yards and not all crammed together. Beautiful farm country. Much nicer than my desert.

Hello Jennifer and others,

I too want to know the name of the Round Town. I want to visit it. So I sent a private message to the photographer using his contact on his web pages and asked. No reply, so I guess he doesn't know either, or he doesn't read his messages, or he just didn't get it.

If anybody else should know, please let us all know.

Adiós. jerezano.

I believe that the name of this town is Venta de Bravo, in the Northeastern part of Michoacan, just south of the Mex. 15 cuota. Try this link, http://www.maps-of-mexico.com/...-mexico-map-d0.shtml and look in the lower right hand corner just below the green line which is the toll road. I'm not sure what the north south highway is, but there appears to be a big toll plaza there. Try Jerezano's new link, http://mexico.pueblosamerica.com/i/venta-de-bravo/ and zoom in using the +'s. That's the town for sure. Shouldn't be hard to find if you're traveling on that cuota.

Regards

Pana

Well done!! What a fantastic find! Now, I just have to find a suitable excuse to take a few days off and go see it for myself on the ground,

While you are there, you may want to go another 8 Kilometers down the road and visit Tlalpujahuade!

Charming town.

Tony......An interesting foot note to this.......Venta de Bravo is where President Calderon made his public announcement about his war on drugs.

Yes, definitely a good idea - I already know both Tlalpujahua and El Oro, but they are always worth revisiting.

Venta de Bravo is also the name of a fault line in that area -- earthquake country.

That link with the map is well and good, but if you go to Google Earth you can get a much better view.
Unfortunately, the name "Venta de brava" is not on Google earth's database. You have to go to
19 deg 51 min 50.68 sec North by 100 deg 10 min 22.90 deg West, it will take you to a very good view of the town.

I just spent some time looking at the color photo that Jennifer put up and the Google satellite view. I find it interesting that there are almost no cars or trucks in either view. Seems odd.
