You might try entering 'San Juan de Alima' in a search engine like Google. Several links appear including accounts of trips, etc...even a hotel for sale!

San Juan de Alima is a beautiful beach village with wonderful sand and good surf for boogie-boarding or board surfing. It is a simple town with few amenities, but perfect for a very laid-back, relaxing few days. There are maybe a dozen small establishments for renting a economical room or casita. I recommend the 3 story motel at the far northern end of San Juan which was formerly named Carpe Diem. The current name of this spot escapes me, but the manager's name is Carmen and she is a very sweet and an accomodating individual who will help make your stay memorable. The rooms are certainly spartan, but with a nice view of the beach directly below and certainly very reasonably priced. Down the beach heading South are a few very reasonable restaurants serving fresh fish and seafood and a little carne, too. Nightlife is limited to dining, relaxing, and nice walks on the beach and thru town. I hope you enjoy your stay if this suits you.
