My wife and I are looking for a colonial style hotel to stay at in Morelia. Anything nice in the $50 range?

Well, friends report this hotel certainly isn't adequate. The noise was so bad at that central location that after one night of no sleep they just left town in the morning.

If you heard the news from friends, that would make it a Second Hand Report.

But the original poster was looking for something nice in the $50 range. And that's fairly hard to find in Morelia.

The Hotel Casino does have rooms which don't overlook the plaza and which are quieter.

The Hotel Calle Real starts at around $75 USD/night.http://www.hjmorelia.com.mx/

Other choices, not downtown, which are very nice include:

Firsthand: The interior rooms (which are the majority of them) are generally pretty quiet. Once I had a problem when a bus load of young girls rolled in and wanted to party all night, but the staff was helpful in quelling it. A good value - I recommend it.
