Recommended eateries in Patzcuaro

I hope to be in Patzcuaro in February. It's been some years since my last visit and would appreciate any recomendations (or warnings!) for local restaurants. I assume that one may still dine al fresco beneath the portales in Plaza Gertrudis Bocanegra?

I recently read Jennifer Rose's article on the Tianguis Gastronomico in Tzurumutaro. I had the impression that was to become a regular event. Is that the case?

El Primo Piso. Plaza Vasco de Quiroga 29 (on the second floor of Casa del Naranjo). Hindu chicken, chicken with walnut sauce, pasta, salads, and glamorous dessert creations.

Café Dona Paca. Portal Morelos 59. Regional specialties ranging from chirupo (a meaty stew) and corundas (sextahedronal tamales) to trout. And the best cappuccino around!

El Viejo Guacho. Iturbe 10. Empanadas, steak, pizza, and excellent tossed salads. The Mansion Iturbe's evening restaurant, featuring live music amid a South American theme.

Don Rafa. Benito Mendoza 30. Home-style Mexican food.

La Escalera Chueca. Portal Guerrero 27. A sidewalk café.

La Compania.

And, of course, the famous Camino Real next to the Pemex station, actually in Tzurumutaro.

The gastronommic events about which I wrote in Tzurumutaro never really took off, at least to the extent anticipated.

And of course, the not-to-be-missed enchiladas placeras, every night on the small plaza (Plaza Gertrudis Bocanegra). Best street food in Mexico.
