Prescription drug availability in San Miguel

Hi folks,
I'm getting mixed answers on this one.

I had cervical fusion 2 yrs ago, 3 disks. It was extensive surgery that actually made me 1/2 inch taller! (ouch)
I'm now under care by a well respected pain management specialist, because the pain from my operation never went away. This man has helped me more than I can say. I'm 90% better than I was before I first saw him 3 months ago.

He has me on a low dose of ms Contin, 30mg/2x a day. This is morphine sulfate. He is slowly weaning me off of the vicodin that my surgeon had me on for 2 yrs.

That said, I went to a certain drug store that a lot of people in San Miguel know well. I showed the pharmacist who's name begins with C, my prescription.

She told me that yes, I can get the morphine sulfate in SMA, but only from 3 specific doctors.

If I move to San Miguel she said she'd let me know who they are. I think she did give me one name. Well anyway, then she proceeded to tell me that vicodin is no longer legal in Mexico, that they prescribe codeine with tylenol instead. No problem as I'll probably be off of the vicodin soon anyway.

So I'm just checking, because someone else told me that absolutely not, morphine is not available in any form. However I'd choose to trust this particular pharmacist's information before a layman.....

Has anyone had any experience with this? I will probably need to stay on the ms contin for quite a while longer, according to the pain doc.

Private replies are just fine....!:-)
Thanks!
Debbie
