Patzcuaro Villages

Some time, some where (not necessarily on this forum) I read about the various villages near Lake Patzcuaro and which village specialized in what craft. I am particularly interested in Cantera sculpturing (fountains etc.).

Can anyone tell me what community has what crafts and what should I not miss when in the area!

I have also posted this on the "Travelling Mexico" Forum.

Go to the Michoacan Index, where a huge assortment of articles about Michoacan is presented. http://www.mexconnected.com/.../michoacanindex.html

At http://www.mexconnected.com/...n/secturartesan.html is an article outlining the artesania of Michoacan.

There are stone carvers operating at the outskirts of Patzcuaro, Tzurumutaro and Tzintzuntzan, but most of the stone carving takes place in Morelia.
