Nearest airport to SMA

Hello! Am new to this forum. My husband and I are planning to make a trip to SMA this winter and I was wondering what was the closest airport and how far from the city? Thanks!

Bajio Airport in Leon. I can only guess at the distance. 70-80 miles?

Don't let that stop you - SMA is wonderful. There are mini buses, and many of the tourists arriving in Leon are headed for SMA, so oportunities to share a cab ride abound. I don't recall the fares - maybe someone else will help you there.

American Express offers a shuttle between Leon and SMA for around $27 a person one way. You need to arrange it ahead of time and I'm not sure if it is available all hours, but for sure check it out. The shuttle between SMA and the Mexico City airport is around $50, for the much longer distance.

If you had a group of four or five, you might be able to rent a car and driver to get you from Leon to SMA a little cheaper as a group, but I'm not in SMA right now to give you a few names and phone numbers from our local paper Atencion.
