Moving to Michoacan

Hello
I am going to be moving to Michoacan in February and am learning as much as I can about the state before I arrive. I lived in Chiapas for three years, but am unfamiliar with this part of the country. I have the option of living in either La Piedad or Ciudad Hidalgo and am wondering if anyone has any recommendations or information about either. I like hiking, exploring and the occassional get-away to the beach. I am also am interested in meeting some ex-pats (anglophones) socially. Thanks timo
