Lodging in Tzintzuntzan

I'm quite sure I didn't spell that correctly, but I think you'll get the idea. A year or so ago there was a website for rustico lodging there, where pets were welcome. I always thought it would be a great place for a base for exploring Patzcuaro, Morelia, and al the wonderful villages nearby. But I can't find it anywhere now. Does anybody know about it? I wonder if it's still in operation. I hope so. Thanks for any help you can give me in finding it.

Hello Daisy,

You did make a google search for Tzintzuntzan did you not? I found there several Tour web pages. If those rustic lodgings are still available, those tour agencies should know and will probably tell you how to make contact.

Good luck. jerezano.

Jerezano,

Thanks for including the conversion of the cost of gasoline from pesos to dollars. I was wondering what the recent hike to 7.10 pesos converted to us dollars. Now I know.

Thanks

There are hundreds of paths up the mountain,
all leading in the same direction,
so it doesn't matter which path you take.
The only one wasting time is the one
who runs around and around the mountain,
telling everyone that his or her path is wrong.

Email deerubin@yahoo.com , Daisy. Didi's B&B, Posada Espiritu Libre is what you're seeking. It is a lovely, pet-friendly place, and Didi is a fine cook. Enjoy!

As far as I heard most recently, our friend Dee (Didi) Rubin has retired from the lodging business and is engaged in other projects.
There's also Casa Santiago, at Ihuatzio, although I've never been there, it's reported to be very nice. http://www.casasantiagomex.com/
However, it's a bit off the beaten track, but a lovely area, on Lake Pátzcuaro.
Daisy, when I'm rested from a 14 day stay in the U.S., (just returned today), I can look up more lodging possibilities for you in the Pátzcuaro region.

Both properties mentioned by Jenifer are quite nice.

But, I don't think either take pets.
The original poster mentions a place "where pets were welcome"

When we first come to Patzcuaro we stayed at the San Felipe.
They lets us keep our bunny rabbit, but I have no idea if they would be as accommodating with a larger pet.
Here is a link to their web page, you may wish to check with them about their pet policy if that is important to you.

Do you have a pet?
If not just ignore my ramblings!

All the best,

Todd

That's too bad about Didi's place closing. I emailed her but haven't heard back. Last year (July) we went to Patzcuaro with a couple who were visiting from the US. It was a whirlwind trip and we just stayed a couple of nights at La Casa Encantada--which we liked very much. (Couldn't get rooms at Iturbe.) I had found Didi's place on line last year and we had hoped to go back, take the two dogs to a place where they could romp while we used it as a base for nearby day trips. Casa Encantada accepts pets, but it's not a place where they could play. So, we'll look at getting petsitters for our next, and longer, trip to the area. So many places to see in the area. Thanks for everyone's suggestions.

Here's what *may* be another valuable resource for folks in the area who are traveling with a family member (that ain't human). I have no personal experience with it. It was sent to me by the friendly folks at Villa San Jose.

We have currently found an alternative for our OUTSTANDING BEASTIE....but it looks pretty great on their website. A Pet Hotel outside (?) Morelia!!! With horsies no less!!!
