I'm coming down this summer and would like to have a vehicle which has a dealer in San Miguel. If my memory serves me, the Volkswagen dealer on Ancha de San Antonio went out of business a couple of years ago. Has this dealership been relocated somewhere in the vincinity?

I also went to the Jeep International Website, and they say that Jeeps are not sold in Mexico. I find that hard to believe. Isn't there a Jeep dealer out near Gigante? Or is that out of business too?

There's a storefront inside the Gigante shopping mall which has a few VW's on display in the corridors, but it's not a full dealership with repairs and such. I haven't seen any Jeep dealership in the nearly two years i've been here, and none is listed in the local director. The usual advice in Mexico: stick to Ford and Chevy! Some "foreign" cars have close ties to Ford or Chevy though, with mostly interchangeable parts--the GM Tracker and the Suzuki Grand Vitara are almost the same small SUV, for example.

This isn´t meant as criticism--just advice. Gringos/Gringas in SMA need to realize that Mexico does not end at Gigante. Queretaro is less than one hour away. Leon is less than 2 hours. In Queretaro and Leon there is basically everything you could need. Leon has almost every type of car dealer except Subaru as far as know, and I imagine that Queretaro has similar or better facilities.

Jeeps are one of the products of Daimler Chrysler. They are sold in Mexico. Try this link for locations of Chrysler dealers nationwide here. http://www.jeep.com.mx/
