Hola -

My husband's faher, Eduardo Tapia-Martinez was born and lived in Jacona as a young boy. We are going to Guadalajara in a few monthsa and we would like to find this town in Michoacan and perhaps visit there as well. Can you help me?

Where exactly is Jacona located?

What larger cities are nearby?

What would be the best transportation to get there?

Are there any websites that give information about Jacona?

Anything you can tell me, will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

ANDREA

.Jacona is just down the road from Zamora, the nearest larger city. Actually, it adjoins Zamora. See the interactive map at http://www.mexconnect.com/maps/Michoacan.pdf

You can read more about Jacona at http://www.michoacan.gob.mx/municipios/42jacona.htm.

Jacona is accessible from Guadalajara by private car or autobus. Meson del Valle http://www.mesondelvalle.com.mx//habitaciones.htm is an excellent hotel located in Jacona.

Thanks so much for the quick reply and the website references. You've made my day! And it's not even 8:am!

I could not access the interactive map, however, but I'll try again later. Any idea how long it takes to make the drive? Thanks again! :)

My pleasure.

Taking the toll road as far as you can, Zamora's a tad over an hour from Guadalajara. Driving real slowly or getting lost, make that 90 minutes. If you really are a slow and lost driver, two hours at the outside.

Try the interactive map again. The first time, it'll take a few minutes to completely come up, but I think you'll find it worth the time and effort.
