"Sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy," John Denver sang, and I'm channeling him today. We've had perfect weather the past few days (still cool at night). My favorite gringo restaurant, Harry's New Orleans, is all gussied up for Mardi Gras, the wait staff in Mardi Gras outfits, those glittery parade necklaces drapped on everything, and a special menu in place through Fat Tuesday. Crawfish Pie, Pot au Feu, etouffe, and glorious beignets for dessert!
All over the Jardin are decorated eggshells which were filled with confetti and which kids have been tossing at everybody to celebrate the season. The red banty rooster living in our courtyard has found a hen and they have 11, count'em, 11 baby chicks digging in the garden right now, the rooster keeping all feral cats at bay. I just sold a watercolor via e-mail photo and sent it off by mail to Phoenix. Some days are just plain glorious!
