Reva Brooks was 90, and she had been in poor health for many years. My watercolor instructor was a huge fan of Leonard Brooks, Reva's husband, who took care of her for many years. He is still working and painting. They were among the first gringos to come to SMA in the first wave of foreign-born artists after WWII. Here's an obituary, below. It says some interesting things about the artistic mood of SMA, compared to the Brooks' home of Toronto, to which they never returned. She was called one of the top 50 women photographers in the world, and her work is in the "Family of Man' exhibit which was made into a series of books. Today there is a nice photo of her and a bouquet at the entrance to Belles Artes where I take lessons. I never met either of them but many in my class knew them and were sad today over the loss. <http://www3.cjad.com/content/cjad_news/article.asp?id=e012771A> Carol Schmidt
