Info on Traveling alone to SM--Someone wants to come along

I have been living for 3 1/2 months now in Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas (5 hours North East of San Luis Potosi—through a horrible and deadly mountain road) right now with 2 car loads (Explorer) of things. The rest—about 50 boxes—is in storage in McAllen, Texas. Eventually, I hope to find the man, the legal truck etc. to help me get the rest, before my menaje de casa expires in December. I am doing all this alone—without a dog even-- and I am writing about it.

Where I am right now deserves a book all by itself. However, I will venture out and have rented a house in San Miguel de Allende for the month of September. I will drive there and from there make a trip to Jalapa in Veracruz, checking out another house. Then I plan on returning here and leaving again to Puerto Escondido in Oaxaca where they have neat houses also—and more in the 350 to 450 US $ price range.

Anyway, I am asking anybody for travel tips. I am planning to take all the toll roads there are. But, I know, there are so many great people on this forum, who will surely have some encouraging words for me.

Also, I am offering if somebody wants to ride with me. Who knows, there might be someone who needs to check things out, too.

I am planning to be on the road close to the first of September.

Plus, are there places I can stay the night, safely and reasonably, because I don’t think I can do it in one day?
