DrDan asks about average age of SMA gringos

Dan, you start a new thread by going to the top line, the one in orange, above the SMA/Guanajuato threads and go to the far right, where it says "Post new thread." It may not even show on your monitor unless you use the arrows to get to the far right. Anyway, here's your post, copied from below, into a new thread:

>I'm not sure how to start a new thread, but I'd like to get an idea from the group about the average age of the ex-pat community in SMA. I'm guessing the majority of retired gringos are in their 60's, but are there folk in their 40's and 50's also? How many are younger people working there?? >

I won't say I see a lot of younger gringos, but I do see them. I agree, the majority of gringos in SMA seem to be over 60, many even into their 80s. Will you find friends in their 40s and 50s? Probably, the ones who are here will probably be as delighted to see you as you are to see them! And there are some even younger, with kids in the schools. If you are looking even more closely into finding a specific group such as gay male professionals in their 40s and 50s, or any other subgroup of interests, I have no idea.

We've only found a handful of lesbians of our age, income, liberal political stance and feminist beliefs who also fit in with our other interests and personality links, but we have found a great many other people who we probably would have never interacted with in Phoenix, for example. We have more straight friends, and older friends, and male friends, than we've ever had in our lives--including a few Republicans! So don't rule out becoing friends only with people similar to you.

The SMA mayor recently said that the SMA population within the city limits is about 70,000, and 10% are gringos, which is far more than any reputable source I've heard in the past has said. He ought to know. So among 7,000 gringos living here full-time, I imagine you can find almost any subset you want, though probably not in huge numbers.
