Buses from Guad to Morelia or Patzcuaro

It was suggested by the people at the language school in Patzcuaro (CELEP) that I might take a bus to Morelia and then transfer to Patzcuaro rather than taking a direct because there are many more on the schedule.

Anyone have opinions on this and know what are the bus lines from the Tonala station.

That certainly seems the most efficient route to me, but I have never done it. I do know there are regular departures from the new bus station that you mentioned (Nueva Central Camionera) to Morelia. Primera Plus is one bus line that makes the trip. You might be able to find their schedule info online. Let me know if you have a problem and I'll send you the website ... I don't have it right in front of me but there are some links here on MC

It seems there are numerous departures from Morelia to Pátzcuaro, both 1st and 2nd class. try Parhikuni, Galeana and/or Flecha Amarilla.

Perhaps Jennifer will post here with the definitive response.

Sounds like fun. I enjoy bus travel in Mex.

It looks like Primera Plus has about 10 buses a day to Morelia and two a day from Morelia to Patzcuaro. No schedule direct from Guad to Patzcuaro. Hopefully I'll get in early enough to just browse the horarios in Tonala and find the quickest way. There's probably local buses leaving often from Morelia.

Looks like the message boards are winding down so won't expect much more info here.

I've read that there are many buses to Patzcuaro every day from Morelia. Supposedly there are a couple of 1st class and a bunch of 2nd.

I seem to recall that the Patzcuaro buses leave from the old bus station in GDL. Not completely positive, but I seem to remember sitting there reading the itineraries of the various buslines while I was waiting for a bus last year.

I believe the Patz buses go around the south side of the lake (Chapuddle) from GDL (duh) .

You'll find plenty of second class busses from Patz to Morelia. From there you can take a first class directo bus to Guadalajara.

The CELEP people are right. Take a deluxe bus from Guadalajara to Morelia. Once in Morelia, there's a bus leaving for Patzcuaro at least every hour. Or simply take a cab from the Morelia bus station to Patzcuaro, because they're not that much more.
