Budget Accomodations Guanaj and SMA?

Can't Post | Private Reply
I would really welcome any recommendations that anyone could share. We will be in Guanajuato and San Miguel de Allenda at the end of August. Could anyone offer recommendations regarding budget accomodations? We don't need anything fancy; clean and friendly is more important. It would be super if people working there would be willing to share some information regarding their communities.

Places that are near city central, but not overly noisy, would be ideal. I've heard specifically that "Guesthouse Trebol" in Guanajuato is nice. Does anyone know of it? We need a place in both communities for our, unfortunately too-short, stay.

If you have recommendations, please supply email and/or phone numbers, if possible.

Thanks a lot for your help!

In San Miguel the Hotel Sautto is a very old and bit worn hotel right downtown that rents rooms for something like $30! Beautiful location and courtyard, and there is an excellent Italian restaurant on the premises and good restaurants within easy walking. It's in most of the tour guides under inexpensive. Parking is on-site, too.

Guesthouse "El Trebol" in Guanajuato

Thanks for the inexpensive hotel recommendations in San Miguel. Two people mentioned the Hotel Suatto - so, I think we'll definitely check it out. It doesn't have email, does it?

In Guanajuato, I read of the Guesthouse "El Trebol." Does anyone, by any chance, have any experience with it?

Looking forward to being there soon!

I have stayed at El Trebol twice, once for 2 weeks(Nov 2000)and once for only 1 week (Feb 2002) while I studied Spanish at Instituto Falcon in Guanajuato.

El Trebol is actually a private home that rents out extra rooms. The lady's name is Ayda Porto. She is from Colombia. Her husband works at the Univ of Gto and is from Belgium. They have one son, who must be about 13 or so now. Members of the family speak French, Spanish, English and some Italian.

The rooms are nothing fancy, but the price is great. The price may have risen, but I paid 100 pesos per night. You are welcome to share the family's laundry, cooking, and TV facilities.

I highly recommend El Trebol. You will be welcomed as one of the family. They can help you navigate through what is truly a unique city.

Buen viaje! Tell Ayda that Don from Denver sent you.
