My wife and I can come to Morelia-Patzcuaro-Uruapan either the third week of March or the last week of April. Are there reasons why one might be better than the other?

Given the choices you've presented, I'd pick the third week of March over the last week of April. April will get your warmer weather, but you'll be in the midst of Semana Santa vacationers without the pageantry that takes place between Domingo de Ramos and Easter.

Muchas gracias. We are in choirs, so we're locked in here for the Easter season and have to be in Dallas the end of March for the Faure Requiem. Ah, the life of the popular singers. Thanks for your help; we will have a great request for advice in a few days which will hopefully be our last before the trip.
