A new e-mail list for SMA residents and would-be residents, and general stuff

Since Coollist went down, a bunch of us have been having major withdrawal pangs. Jesus Cabral has formed a new e-mail message list that will allow every topic of interest to Sam Migueleans, including U.S. politics as well as all the daily stuff like recommendations for a dentist, new restaurant announcements, etc., and it should become a high volume message list. If you're interested, send an e-mail to Jesus Cabral at cabraljj@prodigy.net.mx and he will sign you on.

This is not a list for basic info about SMA or questions about how to move to Mexico or SMA, it's more on day-to-day stuff and general conversation among probably 300 or so San Migueleans of widely different beliefs and interests, very high volume. Be ready for a full inbox if you subscribe! (You can also choose to read the messages only by going to the Topica home page and skipping delivery to your inbox.)

Meanwhile, summer has come to SMA. It's been around 88F (around 28C) daily, 45 or so at night. Many Mexicans are still in sweats while the pale-skinned gringo tourists are so obvious in shorts and tank tops!

Saturday night at the Teatro Angelo Peralto will be a fabulous guitarist, Paco Renteria, who has opened for Luciano Pavaretto in some concerts. He has a bass guitarist, another guitarist, a percussionisst--and an electric violinist who is fantastic! He and the violinist do dueling sets, getting into more and more complex pieces, while the audience goes wild. First floor tickets are 120 pesos, and get them now since the concert will certainly be sold out.
