¡Hola, amigos costeños!
The city of Coatepec, Veracruz(about 10 minutes from Xalapa) has been designated a "Pueblo Magico" by the Mexico National Tourism Board. You can get more information at http://www.vivecoatepec.com.mx/
¡Hasta pronto!

Good to hear that some towns in Veracruz are finally being added to the list for this program. From the start of the program back in 2001 until this year, no towns in Veracruz had been admitted.

It’s worth noting that Papantla, the town nearest to El Tajin, was also recently named as a “Pueblo Magico”. Here’s a short article on that:
http://esp.mexico.com/...pantle-pueblo-magico

And here’s the Secretary of Tourism’s webpage on the program:
http://www.sectur.gob.mx/...sect_Pueblos_Magicos

Here’s a list of the towns that had been previously named to the program. Although the page says 2001-2006, it obviously hasn’t been recently updated to reflect either Coatepec or Papantla.:

Hopefully there will be some promotion of tourism for these places.

¡Hola, amigos tuxpeños! It is always good to hear from you and please contribute more often to this forum. Your input is very valuable! I am sure we would all like to know more about the Tuxpan area, the Huasteca Veracruzana, and the Costa Esmeralda.

I wondered about Coatepec and just searched on the name. The town is amazing and the hacienda just outside town, in San Marcos is stunning (though vacant except for the caretaker).

We walked around Palantpa also earlier this year and it is one of the "cutest" cities we've been in. Not too many gringoes there. :) All my little gueros were stared at and entire conversations stopped as we walked by.
