For those of you wonderingand PMing me heres the scoop - over several years there have been lunches for people to put faces together with posts. Early on they were organized by a fellow named Shoe (it was too cold for him here and he moved to the coast) then by a woman posting as Bucky (after about 3 years here they moved to San Miguel) so there hasn't been one in about a year.

A couple of us thought to start-up again and organize a get together at the beginning of the US Thanksgiving week.

So come on out - at other events people have said they are always surprised by who they see and how they know them. There are 38 attendees so far, and I am thinking we'll do a nice buffet since table service will be cumbersome - lunch cost about 70-80 pesos.

The invite is posted on the free boards and several yahoo boards.

Send your names, and number of attendees to ajijic_event@yahoo.com

If a Meet & Greet lunch in some neighborhood loser bar with a new untested cook and undisclosed menu where everybody within 500 kilometers who is still mobile is invited in a hick town nobody even ever heard of populated by people who moved there because they couldnīt afford to live in San Bernardino appeals to you why not just go ahead and shoot yourself because it ainīt gonna get any better than this so you might as well go on to the Pearly Gates and confront Aunt Maude who has waited 20 years now to tell you what a loser you are and at the very least you can punch out her lights which you have wanted to do since you were eight and she stuck that suppository up your ass if you know what I mean.

Shoes and shirt required

Would that be me or the mule?

You know, Anita darling that I only have one shirt and two shoes. Need the shirts be pressed and the shoes free of cow shit?

That, by the way, reminds me of one of my favorite Mary Tyler Moore episodes where she was concerned that she would be the high school alumna who came the farthest for the 10th reunion. As in the inquiry, "You mean you came all the way from Minneapolis for this?"

Donīt worry. If you have extra food in that neighborhood you need to dispose of, just leave the back door open.

It wasn't too difficult to arrange. After a lifetime of charity events that was too easy so I have agreed to do another in mid to late January. See you all then.

Yeah, Bubba, and pimiento cheese isn't exactly Cleveland. It's way more Alabama.

Does anybody here know what Benedictine is? I will make some for the person who can give me the recipe.

Well, Rolly, my friend, I cannot help you up there in Lerdo but for those of you living at Lake Chapala, Chicken Joe in Riberas makes and sells the finest pimeiento cheese you gon find in Mexico along with chicken so fresh it protests being forked as would most of us.

In Alabama we love pimiento cheese finger sammiches served to Melba Jeans with bourbon straight up brought around by fine black ladies named Lawanda who put up with endless bullshit from crackers name of Richard Erasmus Bogan the 111 graduated from the Universiy of Alabama Law School at Tuscaloosa circa 1966 and so filled with themselves that they are convinced that the rednecks running the beach bars down at Perdido Key have nothing better to do than kiss their asses but I will tell you this - Bubba done drove his cambioneta cross the line and stopped just short of Guatemala and them Alabama lawyers can kiss my ass.

I assume you are wanting the dip. Here it is. Stolen from http://southernfood.about.com/...cipes/r/bl80419a.htm
INGREDIENTS:
  • 1 large cucumber
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tablespoons grated onion
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
  • dash green food coloring (optional)
PREPARATION: Pare, grate, and drain cucumber. Combine with remaining ingredients in food processor.
Serve as is or as a sandwich or canapé spread. Thin with sour cream to make a dip for vegetables.

Rolly wins the prize, Bubba comes in second. When I hit send on that other post, I thought, somebody is going to think I meant the drink.

We three will sit ourselves down and have Benedictine sandwiches (yes, with the crusts cut off the bread) washed down in sips with some Benedictine liqueur. Bubba, you bring some of Chicken Joe's pimiento cheese, too.
