Ocean Salt

Hello, I was curious as to the effect of salt on the body of your automobile? Does it rust it out more quickly? Thanks.....

Most modern cars are fairly well protected. Still, it does happen, but not nearly as quickly as in those places in the north where salt is still used on the highways to melt snow and ice.

Being in close proximity to ocean air is hard on many things. Computers, fans, electronics in general. My aging car is no worse off here in Mazatlan than it was on the coast of British Columbia, but I do keep it covered just as I did there. It's not something we spend time dwelling on, though there is can of WD-40 on ready at all times.

Las brisas del mar destroy just about everything metal near the oceanfront. This includes auto bodies, outdoor light fixtures, screendoors etc. It's just part of routine maintenance but many people find it well worth the cost to have awesome sunsets.
