3 Seconds to Get In/3 Hours to Get Out

The San Diego Union/Tribune had an interesting article in the Business section of today's paper about the growing length of time it takes to cross the border going North and the toll in takes on people, the economy and lost jobs and tourism........on both sides of the border. Here's the link

Yes - It now takes hours when it used to take only 1/2 hour usually. Recently I crossed at San Ysidro walking. In the past people just walked up and crossed. Now it can take two hours.

Your tax dollars at work.

Don't even go there...........

The DHS (that would be the Department of Homeland (in) Security) has declared the San Ysidro border crossing a high risk area for potential terrorist activity and entry into the U.S., so they require more thorough searches of everyone crossing. Yet at the same time DHS drastically slashed funding to San Diego saying it wasn't at risk. Navy bases, Marine bases, worlds busiest border crossing......let's see..........all those deployed troops will protect the region right? Logical so totally ridiculous and ill-conceived only a bunch of politicans could have come up with it.

Anyone who has spent more than a few days in this area knows that San Diego and Tijuana are so economically entwined with each other that the relationship can only be described as co-dependent. For better or for worse, the two cities are married to each other in spite of that little obstacle called the border. Oh........that's right; Washington D.C. is 3,500 mile to the east and wasn't invited to the wedding but now wields the shotgun.

Tax dollars at work indeed.

He looks like an ambulance chaser attorney - even worse than a used car salesman.

So as not to get dinged for non Mexican comment - He looks like a PV time share salesman also.

Was in San Diego (La Jolla) last week and was chatting with a Mexican lady who worked the hotel's breakfast area. She told me that for 15 years she crossed the Tiajuna border 5 days a week to get to work. She left home at 0200 to be at work at 0400 and then returned SOB at 1400. At least she crossed North when it should not be crowded. But still, and I whine if a light slows me down. Amazing. Steve
