Hard to see icon.

David this icon is getting old, and seems to be getting smaller by the day.

Where as my eye sight is just getting old, and I am getting bigger, (can't get so close to the monitor any more)

David, I think this one might fit in same area as original?

PS, it maybe because I have gone from a 17" tube monitor @ 800x600, to a 19" LCD @ 1024x768.

Yes Arbon, that is the problem. I too have upgraded this time to a 17 inch laptop with a 1920 by 1200 pixels screen resolution. Not only is that icon too small but I have a hard time reading some emails if the font size is too small. I know I could change my screen resolution to let me see these small icons, etc better, but after spending all that money on one of Dells better video cards, I don't want to do so.

I presume you have increased the "Text Size" settings to "Largest". I also just ordered a new pair of glasses.

This is going to be a problem for more and more folks because the industry is upgrading the resolution of their basic screens as well.

The text size is no problem on medium, but the icon size does not change with the text, and there is not enough of the yellow showing to contrast with the white.

I've noticed that the new icons only appear on threads that have a response, more than one post. Until someone responds to a post, the icon is the old tiny one.

Exactly!
The fact that it is all white means that you have already opened or fully read that thread.

The problem was in the difficulty in discerning between those icons (a single, thin, white one for one posting only and a wider, overlapped, white one for a posting with response(s)), and the one indicating that a posting had a new response.

This last one has been enlarged.

A single new posting is indicated by a solid yellow icon, which while small, is clearly visible.

Put simply:
a big one = new responses.
An all yellow one = a brand new posting.
Anything else = you have already looked at it.
