in search of locals MTV guide

Hi--

My name is Jeff Spurrier. I'm covering PV, Costa Alegre and north to Mazatlan for a new guide book from MTV on Mexico beaches. I've searched these boards--very informative, thank you--and would like to hear any locals' recommendations on what you like about PV. I'm trying to stay away from the beer&beaches mentality (despite the demographic of the book's supposed audience). I'm interested in out-of-the way restaurants & hotels, unique vistas, volunteer opportunities, eco-tourism, activist sensibilities, spiritual rejuvenation, biking.

Please google my name to see some past clips. (Outside, LA Times, Atlantic, Frommers, etc.)

Parenthetically, while I can probably trade for free hotels, I would rather have a week-long base in PV to work from. Anyone out there want to trade their house or apartment? I have a home in San Miguel de Allende which I can offer in trade--depending on availability. I would need high-speed internet access. You can see my home at VRBO, #164, Casa Chepito. I'll be arriving in PV 8/22.

Thanks--Jeff Spurrier

Check my pages at http://sparks-mexico.com/costalegre/ for south of Vallarta. I don't do hotels or restaurants but do list a number of activities, eco tours, a Spanish school, beaches and lots of fotos.

tomzap.com and costalegre.ca also have info of different types

You could look at the All Vallarta board, http://p073.ezboard.com/btodopuertovallarta, for some ideas as well.

I'm in Bucerias, just north of Vallarta. Send me a private reply if you want to get together while you are in town. We are retired, not exactly oin your demographic, but enjoy exploring the area.

We are about 3.5 hours south of Vallarta in Melaque. Barra de Navidad is next door. If you make it down this way you should also visit Nan at Sea to Sierra in Barra. She runs a business in Barra that does bike tours and normal tours and knows the area better than I. She's been here 8 years.
http://www.seatosierra.com/ I'll check with her if you are interested

While in Vallarta check with John at http://www.vallarta-info.com/ He's an ex-Brit that has been there forever. Good guy

Yelapa sounds like something you should see from Vallarta http://www.vallarta-info.com/yelapa.html
