Does anyone know if the Yucatan Express ferry between Mexico and Florida is still running? And if so, how I might contact them?

Nope. It ran for half a season and that was it. Occasionally there is talk that it will start again but ....

There is also talk of one starting between Houston and Progresso which would make my little heart go pitty-pat, but again it is all talk so far.

That is so disappointing. If I could actually find a ferry running between Florida and Progresso, we would give very serious consideration to buying a home somewhere on the coast.

Yes, it would be a great thing whether it ran from Houston to Puerto Morelos (my preference) or anywhere across the Gulf thus cutting a thousand or so miles off the commute.

The one that did run for one season, had problems in Pto Morelos as it was too shallow for it to get into the dock. Of course, they had assured the company #1 that it was deep enough and #2 that they would dredge it before the ferry arrived. The ferry arrived, sat offshore for 12 hours and then brought people in on boats and took the vehicles to Progresso. They never dredged the port so the ferry never came back. The company said that it was not cost effective if they couldn't dock somewhere along the Riviera Maya and that is probably true.

"They Say" the Ferry Tale of the ferry returning is but a Ferry Tale. I wish were going to happen.
