Distance from San Miguel de Allende to Puerto Vallarta

Can someone tell me how many hours from San Miguel de Allende to Guadalajara (spending the night in Chapala) and from Guadalajara to Puerto Vallarta? Is the autopista from Guadalajara to where? Or is it only a two lane highway all the way to Puerto Vallarta? Any info will be appreciated.Thanks in advance.Capri

Some one just posted on coollists.sma that it is a 3and a half hour drive from SMA to Guadalajara. It is 4 lanes most of the way. They were recommending flying from there instead of Mexico City because it was less expensive. I thought it was about 5 hours. No Se!!

is about 5-6 hours. Cuota goes to Hyway 200 a little south-west of Tepic. Hyway 200 (the coast hiway) is two lane until the outskirts of PV. Road is good condition but many curves and not too fun at night.

I drive from Leon and it takes 7-8 hours. It takes me 1.5 hours to drive from Leon to SMA. Can't say how long with Chapala included. The road from Guad to PV varies, it'sa good road, but often two lanes, so traffic and trucks determine your time.
