Problem accessing www.annualcreditreport.com

When I try navigate to the free credit report site : www.annualcreditreport.com I get this error:
The page cannot be found
The page you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavaila

If I remove a single character making an invalid site name I get the "Page cannot be displayed" error.
The page cannot be displayed The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser settings.

My daughter in the US can access the site with no problem.

I am in Chapala using LagunaNet and Telmex DSL. I get the same results using both.

Also www.equifax.com is not accessible but www.experian.com and www.transunion.com are OK.

Using Lagunanet, I couldn't get the first URL, but I was able to go to the bottom three URLs you mentioned. Let me switch to Prodigy.

With Prodigy, I, like you, I could not go to the 1st or 2nd URL but could go to the 3rd and 4th. I will let someone else suggest what the problem is. But here's a guess. Could it have something to do with the location of our ISP IP #s?

Sometimes the browser you are using can cause problems. I use Mozilla but on occasion have to resort to Internet Explorer to get a site to come up. I have no idea what you are using but you might try another browser, if you have an extra loaded on your computer.

I use Firefox, Opera, Maxthon, and IE. Get the same problem with them all. What I'm wondering is could the site be blocking access from
outside the US?

This exact same situation was mentioned a few months ago by me, when attempting to contact the California DMV to renew my car license plates.

At that point, only people with AOL were able to access from Mexico, most others like, with Megacable and others, could not do it.

Hello,

Our computer location is inherent in our server. Any web site which wants to check our location can determine where we are.

Yes, the free credit report site run in accordance with the US Government requirement is apparently blocking access from computers located here in Mexico, and probably any other foreign site. Perhaps a proxy server will work for you as it will hide the fact you are in a foreign country. At least one works with the State of California sites.

I have given up on the FCR site because of several problems.

1. By regular mail I sent them a return-receipt registered letter from my Texas address asking for a copy of my free credit report from one of the credit reporting firms. I got the return-receipt. I never got the credit report. Whether they sent it, or whether it was stolen from the mail, or just got lost I never found out, but I decided not to take that risk again.

2. While in Texas and using my computer there I was able to enter the site without problems. However, after answering the multiple questions correctly about former addresses, mortgages, etc., including false repoonses they gave me to trip up anybody posing as myself, I finally got to credit card numbers and found that they wouldn't accept either of the correct numbers I sent them. Bummers.

3. I did not try talking to them at their 800 number. By that time I was just mad as hell.

Perhaps you folks will not have those problems. I wish you luck.

Adios. jerezano.
