Xico Fiesta de la Santa María Magdalena

¡Hola, amigos costeños!
¡Feliz Día de Independencia de "Gringolandia"!
In two weeks the Fiesta de la Santa María Magdalena will begin with the main week of festivities after several weeks of preliminary events and processions in the village of Xico, about a half hour from Xalapa. On July 18th is the making of the "Alfombras de acerín"(brightly colored sawdust used to depict different scenes depending on what this years theme will be, made by the youth of Xico on the main street Hidalgo going up towards the main church).
Read my article, "Xico, village of enchantment" ( to get more information. Please forgive my mistake saying that María Magdalena was a "virgin", but her being the "santa" of the village of Xico is very intriguing to me.
Please say "¡Hola!" to me if you are in Xico and see me busily taking pictures of someone or something.
¡Hasta pronto!
