Give Ron Hudson a call, he is doing a great job teaching the different dancing steps, including Tango, I have heard. Lots of people attending his classes. Another RCAF member, you know.

Did you ever get any satisfaction to your request about tango instruction? I am very interrested in that discipline.
Even to commute to Guadalajara for instruction.

There are ballroom dancing lessons in the ballroom/exercise room (very nice, wood floor) at Club Oxygen. Usually they are conducted in the late Fall or winter, but I know there was one this spring due to popular demand. Go out, have a drink at Melanies, and ask for details at the Club Oxygen desk.

The Café del Carmen in Guadalajara (across the street from the Ex-Convento del Carmen) offers tango demonstrations every Friday night at 9:00 PM. Some of the folks who demonstrate the seductive dance are also instructors.

Well thats now on the calendar. Is that the nightclub that I have heard about where people dress very flamboyantly and a tad risque for the dancing the dance of love? If not, where is that nightclub, if you recall.

I am not sure tad is allowed to modify risque - or even be in the same sentence - especially when the subject is tango:>

Café del Carmen
South side of Avenida Vallarta--just across the street from the Ex-Convento del Carmen, one of Guadalajara's major cultural centers.

There's a small park in front of the café.

There are two excellent movies based on the tango; One was produced in Argentina and won many international awards (english subtitles)called 'Tango'. The other called 'Assination Tango' staring Robert Duvall. Both are inspirational.

Also "The Tango Lesson" by Sally Potter. Though the script is simply awful, the dancing and soundtrack are great.

I know there's a very good teacher in DF and will be happy to find the contact information if anyone would like.
Am hoping that the Guadalajara group is good, and look forward to seeing them.

As a former tanguera, please do not confuse the tango taught by ballroom dancers for Tango.
But hey, even it is worth doing - grab any chance to dance to that most beautiful music, even if it is in a bastardized style.
