Here's a link to a B & B in downtown Zalapa that came to me highly recommended.

Might stay there some day, unless El Jalapeño can make other suggestions:)

We knew someone who stayed at the Mariquinta last summer for several weeks and liked it. However, it is expensive and Roy Dudley has a number of rentals near his home and office in the center of the city. They are less expensive, come with TV cable and computors with internet, and you can pump your landlord for information almost daily.
