Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo vs. Huatulco Living

Can't Post | Private Reply
Aside from vacationing, has anyone spent enough time both places to compare the two for longterm living? I'm curious about comparisons of weather, cost of living, local personality, and general quality of life.

At some point I may move to one or the other and open a service business. Any thoughts are appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Hi,

I am building in Huatulco. Sorry to say that I have not been to Ixtapa. I have a running blog of my house site at

http://www.huatulco-real-estate.com/new-house.htm This could help I don't know.

Huatulco is a very nice place to live. If you can find a niche it's a good place to make a living too, but it is a very small 'resort'. Really it is a wonderful place to live, with the added bonus of a few tourist dollars to help out.

Almost zero crime, friendly locals and an almost 100% sun record make it a good place to look into.

Try these guys for costs http://www.huatulco-real-estate.com of land etc.

Beautiful swimming beaches and surf style beaches too.

Well I am sure Ixtapa is a nice place too. Hopefully someone can fill you in on that place.

yes the heat in Huatulco is worse - though it's no picnic in Z town although easier to jump in there

I would be bored soon in H and have more to do in Z

Summer in Mexico in general is darn hot. Huatulco IS hot in summer but more than makes up for that in Winter when you can sleep with a blanket some nights.

As for boredom ... all depends on what you need from a town. It is not 'Vegas' for sure. Z has more to do, But Huatulco is finding a following who like beauty mixed with eco minded tourism.

Still, both places (z and Huatulco) are superb.

I understand that like the folks that work in upscale touristy Ixtapa live in the more humble Zihuatanejo, those who work in a similar environment of Huatulco live in Salina Cruz. I dunno for sure.
