Weather In Mazatlan

Can't Post | Private Reply
Someone in Mazatlan please get back to me on the weather, specifically changes in the weather. Does it ever get really cold or really hot? I am not interested in having unnecessary clothing but I want to be prepared. I am arriving mid May so I want to know what to expect the balance of the year. I was there in November last year and it rained a bit but it was very pleasant generally. Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Ruby:
Its starting to warm up a bit but a lot has to do with where you are located. I'm right on the ocean so we get the breezes. As we speak, the windows are closed, the overhead fans are on and I'm sitting here in a pair of shorts with no shirt on. My neighbor across the street is not on the ocean and is using his AC a few hours a day. You won't need wool gloves anymore this season. Bring clothes for weather like you'd find in New Orleans in the summer. This isn't a big dress up town so if you forget anything essiential, you can buy it at one of the department stores.

About mid november, it starts cooling down significantly. Time to drag out the light jackets or layering for comfort depending on how acclimated you are and again, depending on your location in the city itself. Down at the oceanside cafes, long pants are essiential and maybe a sweater. But then, I'll be down there with a light jacket and will see folks from the great northwest sitting there in shorts and T-shirts. It won't take long to figure it out.

Yeah Steve. You're talking about me & Jim now. You're acclimated to the higher temps & when it falls to 63-65 when the wind blows in from the bay you're cold while we think it's a nice warm summer evening.

Ruby, Steve has lived in Mazatlan for the past 6 or so years, so you can depend on his take on the weather.

Getting older and still not down here.

Bring light cotton mix and match outfits and you will be good to go until November! Bring along a few face cloths to tuck in your bag or purse while out and about, using them to combat humidity just as the locals do. I was going to suggest an umbrella, but in reality when it rains it isn't walking-around weather anyway. It pelts down and everyone runs for cover. It doesn't last long and we look forward to every drop.
