Hi Michael,

I am planning a move to Ensenada also. I have friends there that use TELNOR fast access. They apparantly have two speeds. I think the slower of the two is about $38 per month and the faster, closer to $60. (expensive) I'm hoping the price will come down eventually, but they need some competition. Did you post the question on Baja Nomad board? I see it posted many times for areas south of Ensenada, but never Ensenada area. I was going to post it eventually.

Don't know anything about it. Are you in Ensenada? What does it cost per month?

Telmex is the telephone company in Mexico and Prodigy is their internet service. Here is the website link explaining the services and prices.

I am not aware that there has been a change in telephone service in Baja California. Telnor, a subsidiary of the parent Telmex, has always been the sole provider of Prodigy Internet. I know that some people think that Baja is not the "real Mexico" but I thought I should correct the misinformation in the previous post.

I don't think anyone here has tried to suggest that the Baja was not in the real Mexico. I was simply responding to a question by recommending Prodigy as a good option for internet service based on my personal experience. Glad to hear that Telnor is related to Telmex and that Prodigy is available here, there and everywhere in Mexico.

If a person living in Ensenada wished to subscribe to Prodigy and used the listed Telmex website, he would receive a message that no DSL service is available in that area. Telmex does not serve that part of Mexico. They must use the Telnor website instead. Many rules, regulations and procedures are different in the free trade zone of Baja California. For that reason, the stock answers that apply to questions about the interior of Mexico don't help a person needing information about Baja. Other examples include need for car permits, amount of merchandise which can be brought in duty free etc.

Absolutely true, and we welcome you to jump in with your knowledge and answer the Baja California questions. Is there a link you could then supply to answer the question to the internet service that you use if it isn't Prodigy?
