¡Hola, amigos costeños! ¿Como han estado? I just got back from the village of Coyollilo, about 40 minutes from Xalapa, and am exhausted. I will try to upload some pictures on Webshots.

Hola. What do any of you know about carnival in Veracruz or the Veracruz region? Where would be a good, yet inexpensive place to stay that would be convenient to the carnival but not right in the middle? Are there pre-carnival activities/events/contests?
Or is it better to visit Veracruz and environs when carnival is NOT happening, as some people have suggested to me??? Any good web leads would be helpful - I think I need to get a reservation now but have not been able to find much online yet. Thanks for any help you can provide. Eileen
