I can't help you in QRoo but if you have a week or so and a van I can tell you that they make gorgeous carved furniture in the Petén of Guatemala, about a days drive if you hustle but easier if you take 2 days. As close as El Remate, just outside the gates to Tikal and only a couple hours from the Belize border, they make a lot of hardwood furniture. Farther down (2 more hours driving) in Poptun they also do incredible work with beautiful types of wood. I was recently through there and drooling over some of the doors and furniture. I saw one door that was 3D relief of the tree of life, subtly stained and completely cut through in parts. They said they would fill the spaces with glass for an interior door or wood for exterior. It was made of rosewood, a really beautiful hardwood. Cost was approx $300 US. If I needed furniture I think it would be worth it to drive down and buy it there. Check with Belize customs first of course to see if they have restrictions on bringing it through.

I know this is a long shot but, does anyone know Eddie in Puerto Morelos?? I don't have a number but he is great at stained glass and has years of experience. Sorry for the lack of info--just hoping someone lives in Pto. Morelos who might know him.

Thank you for the information. It sounds wonderful. I just don't know if I would be able to make the trip. Maybe I could hire someone to make the trip for me.
