American insurance when coming back

Paul--If I remember correctly, Sanborn's might offer a temporary policy when you go back to the States. The first year, I was able to renew my US insurance ffom my previous carrier; I had to buy a 6 month policy, but after the 6 weeks in the US, I simply cancelled the remainder with no problem. The problem was that after I had been gone for more than a year, I was placed in the "high risk" pool, and the cost became very expensive. I also needed to have a current registration in the US, which I no longer had after a year. Maybe try registering your car in Texas?? THere is a lot of info on this board about doing that in Laredo, especially, I think...and then get insurance that way. Good luck.: I live in San Miguel de Allende full time and do not have American car insurance. Since I have lived down here I have not traveled in my Auto back to the states. Are there any companies that sell temp. auto insurance , such as the companies who sell temp. Mexican insurance. : My auto tags are current and my drivers lic. : thanks for you help : Paul<p>
