Although I stay in Guad, as of late I find I have to make more frequent trips NOB and because of this I’ve considered moving somewhere around Baja. But I’ve heard (not confirmed) that IMSS makes it very difficult or doesn’t issue IMSS insurance to Expats there because they have reservations. Such as it being abused by some who spend more time NOB and maintain IMSS medical insurance at less personal cost. Then again, this can’t and isn’t necessarily so with some Expats who live permanently SOB, albeit they live close to the boarder. Many things are said and what to believe is something else, unless you hear from someone who’s been there, done that. This is why MC is a valuable informational tool if it reaches the right people. Another spin I’ve heard is that IMSS is really issued kind of gratuitously to expats who live further in the interior and for supporting the country by paying taxes and contributing more to the Mexican economy with their continued commerce with the local citizenry. But than again, these same conditions can just as well exist in Baja, such as TJ, Roserita or Ensenada. Or are they considering the odds. I’d be interested hearing details from Expats who live near a boarder and retain IMSS medical insurance. I think I’ll post this enquiry in the North Pacific Region of this forum perhaps the readers from that area will respond, as well.
