Propane fridge- buy in Mex or import?

Can't Post | Private Reply
Any experiences with propane refers available in Mexico?
Quality, reliability, gas consumption, cost?

We would buy a Servel 8 c.f. (6cf fridge/ 2 cf freezer) if we decide to import one - cost with duty about $1350 dollars, and would be interested in a comparable Mexican model.

Our place is located in remote Baja California Sur where servicing the fridge onsite would not be an option so quality and propane consumption are the most important features. I haven't looked in to what Mexican Brands are available in the nearest big cities of Cd. Constitución or La Paz yet. Thought I'd find out if it was even worth pursuing Mexican models.

Thanks

I recently did alot of research on propane refrigerators, and if I were to buy one, I would get the Servel, hands down, no questions asked. I wouldn't even consider one made in Mexico, even if they were available. I, also, would transport it across the border not in it's original shipping crate, with an old shriveled lettuce leaf and some other crumbs inside and a smudge on the door, and claim it was used, and not even mention that it is gas powered, and claim value of US$100, "garage sale".

Thank you JohnV. I think we will go with the Servel.
