In Praise of the Food Factory - San Miguel de Allende

Hi all, I wrote about this place before. I love their Nicoise salad as well as many other things. I'm told they have holiday dinners and I was sorry I missed Thanksgiving. They are closed on Sunday, though. Wish it were Monday instead. The food is quite good and hasn't that Mexican aura to it. It tastes like home to me. My salad was about $65 pesos.

I've enjoyed several lunches at the Food Factory. I especially like the home-made breads. The nicoise salad is another story. You have to like the kind of tuna that I think of as the low grade type; dark, oily and very fishy. (I understand that type doesn't contain as many polllutants, though.) If they used the solid packed albacore type, I'd love the salad, mercury be darned. Their chicken salad is great. The atmosphere is pleasant and the help - helpful.

I take it that the Food Factory is in San Miguel de Allende, but would you please edit your post to show the city in the subject line?

OK. The Food Factory is in the Aurora Mall on the road to DH out of San Miguel de Allende.

I agree that the tuna isn't the beautiful white albacore we like, but if you have ever had a salad in Nice, France, you would get fresh sardines covering it. So a little oil blends in just fine. And the salad dressings are superb. BBQ chicken is excellent as is the bread.

I don't mind paying a bit more for tastes I am accustomed to. Go and ENJOY the food!
